10 downsides of living in London

Quite a while back I wrote about the 15 things I love about London. It got a great response, so I figured it is about time to write about the 10 things that aren't so great about living in London (watch me and my ever changing numbers). Please don't get offended by this and don't take it too seriously. Sooo here they are:

1. Aircraft noise
If you live in London, especially not right in the centre, it is very likely that you are reasonably close to one of the airports. Which means you will have to deal with the noise that comes with it. I don't always get air planes flying over where I live, but when I do it can last till late in the night and be very disturbing. I can only imagine how bad it must be for people living really close to e.g. Heathrow.

2. The cost
EVERYTHING in London is expensive. This is something everyone who lives here just knows. Living, travelling, eating, going out - super pricey. You will have to make compromises, e.g. live further outside London or only go clubbing once a month. Sounds great right?

3. Always busy
London is never not super packed. Tourists, workers, shoppers, etc are always walking the streets. Shopping can become a nightmare, especially in the summer months where you will run into some tourists photo every two steps. Also you won't find a day where the Londoners aren't out shopping, like seriously, not one day!

4. Souvenir shops
They're around every corner and not only attract a ridiculous amount of tourists (obviously) but also mean you have sellers pouncing on you trying to sell you they're latest mini version of the London bridge.

5. No swimming
Swimming in London? Almost impossible. The Thames isn't an option unless you ancy getting seriously ill. There are a few swimming pools but reading the reviews will put you off going there forever. That said the serpentine in Hyde Park is supposed to be great, considering you enjoy sharing it with ducks and their excrement.

6. People judge you
People in London will judge you by what supermarket you go to or even your post code. Waitrose is considered overly posh and who even goes to Lidl? Your every action will have a deeper meaning, so make sure you are informed what your choices will say about you ;)

7. Very high crime rate
London probably has England's highest crime rate, which is not really surprising. My sister's bike has been stolen twice in a month and if you leave your phone in your pocket, it probably won't be there anymore at the end of the day. Extra care is to be taken when being out at night - it's best not to walk around alone!

8. Traffic
Driving a car through London can be a terrifying experience. People drive careless and selfishly, not to mention the motorbikes and bikes weaving their way through the (often stationary) car jungle. If you try to be responsible, you will realise very quickly that it won't be very successful and so everyone continues to aggressively master rush hour.

9. Difficult for immigrants
Not being born in London makes living there 20x more difficult. People expect you to speak fluent English, but learning a new language isn't that easy. Moreover the visa procedure is lengthy and exhausting. Finding a good job is almost impossible if you're language skills aren't perfect. I myself moved to London from a tiny village in Europe and it took me several months to get used to the people, traditions and language.

10. Despite all these points, you never want to leave
I love London to bits. No, it is certainly not perfect and has its drawbacks, but doesn't every city have that? Once you get used to living in this buzzing city, you quickly fall for it and many of my friends cannot imagine living anywhere else. Nowhere else you get such a wide variety of people, opportunities and problems - what else could you wish for?

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know pros and cons of the city YOU live in! I always love to hear about different places and sharing experiences. Oh by the way, I'm writing this post while it's pouring down with rain in the middle of July - another lovely side of London ;) This post isn't meant to offend anyone or spread negativity, it is purely for entertaining reasons.
Have an amazing summer and please send some sunshine my way!

Types of people in a fitness class

I take part in an aerobics/dance fitness class every Monday night and it made me realise that there are different types of people that go there. I am basing this on my experience, I don't know if it is like that in every fitness class, but I have seen these types at several sport centres now.
Enjoy:

The pro
This is the person that radiates fitness. They can do every move perfectly and make everything look super-easy. Standing next to them makes you feel like a cat next to a leopard.

The hottie
There is always someone who looks fricking amazing no matter how hard the exercise is. Like, 100 crunches and I am sweating on the floor and they look as if they have just sprung out of a magazine cover. Makes my self-confidence go through the roof....

The bunny
This one makes my day every time. I know you shouldn't judge people when they are trying hard, but it is just too adorable. This person adds a little jump to every exercise, e.g. when you have to do standing hamstring curls, they don't stand, they hop. Seriously, it looks like a rabbit doing exercise. I reckon tho that they burn twice the amount of calories that us 'normal' people do.

The aggro
Ever stood next to someone who appears to have a lot of anger to let out? And that while doing aerobic exercises? No? Well it is scary. This person takes the exercises way too serious! If the instructor tells you to WALK to the left, they will sprint. And if you are in the way, that's your problem not theirs.

The millionaire
Some people need to show EVERYWHERE that they have too much money. It is so obvious at the gym. The newest sport shoes, ten Victoria's secret bras, high tech trousers and even the water is special fitness water. Before you ask, yes I am jealous. Who wouldn't be?

The one that thinks they look amazing
This person thinks that they do all the exercises perfectly and look so much better than you do. But when it comes to getting their buttocks down for a squat, they just stand there, moving their behind slightly backwards. Well done *claps*

The one that's given up
We've all been this person before. Some days just aren't meant for a workout and when everyone around you is jumping their heart out, you just can't bring up the strength to do it. However some people just never seem up for a workout which makes me question why they spent their money on a fitness class...

Haha I hope I haven't offended anyone with this, I am certainly not saying that I am flawless when doing a fitness class. I'm pretty certain that I look completely ridiculous, maybe I need to film it sometime ;) Comment telling me if I have left any types out!
Love you lots <3

Why being ill isn't the end of the world

Disclaimer: This post is not meant to offend anyone. When I talk about being ill in this context, I mean smaller illnesses such as the flu or just feeling a bit poorly. I am very well aware that there are illnesses that aren't suitable for a post like this, so please don't think I am talking about being severely ill.

We all know the feeling of waking up one morning, feeling pretty awful (and often looking that part too). These days are best spent at home in bed with lots of tea, lots of Netflix and lots of comforting food. Even though being ill is never nice, a day off can sometimes be relaxing and you come out of it feeling even better than before. I am ill at the moment, so I had plenty of time to contemplate the good things about it:

1) You get to sleep
Everyone has such a busy schedule during the week that we often lack one of the most important things: sleep. So when you catch a cold and are bound to your bed, at least you get to catch up with all that lost sleep. After all sleep is supposed to be the best medicine (after laughing of course).

2) You can spend a whole day watching TV/being on the computer without anyone complaining
Let's be honest, when you are lying there with an awful headache, the last thing you want to do is do the work you know you are missing. You feel tired and can't concentrate so the only possible entertainment is watching Netflix, TV or youtube. Doesn't sound too bad does it?

3) People are so much nicer
My family always turns so much nicer when I am ill ;) Human instinct appears to be helping a person in need, and even if we aren't that much 'in need' , it's enough to get someone to bring you a cup of tea and some sweets. Room service for free.

4) Lots of tea and comfort food
Here in the UK we have a slight obsession with tea, so being ill is the perfect 'excuse' to drink 5 litres of it. Seriously, I am not lying when I say I've had seven cups today....  Also tea warms you up and helps with a sore throat or a cold. In addition you can have whatever food you want with your tea, an ill day is a perfect cheat day where you just eat whatever feels right. Don't lie, we all do it. And it's great!

5) You appreciate being healthy more
Now this one is quite deep, but how would we appreciate the good things in live without the bad ones? Being ill makes you realise how good it feels to not be ill. I think we need a little reminder every now and then of how great it is to be healthy!

6) Bubble baths
Bubble baths make everything better and on a day where you feel quite poorly they work miracles. Just sink into the hot water and read that book you have wanted to read for ages (mine is Divergent) - you'll almost be able to feel the illness leaving your body.

7) Look like a hot mess
No one will judge you for the way you look when you are ill. Messy hair? Oh well. Red face? Not that bad. Sweatpants and a hoodie? No worries. You have an excuse to look the way you do, after all you are ill ;)

8) Just don't worry
We worry so much all the time. Just relax. One day off isn't going to make you fail your exams and the world isn't going to go into breakdown if you don't turn up somewhere. Give your body the time it needs to heal - worrying about it will only make it worse.

I know that lost of people (me included) have the flu right now, so if you are lying ill in bed and thinking I've gone nuts to say being ill has it's positives sides - I completely understand. Still I hope this brought a smile to your face and you feel better very soon!
I love you lots, leave me a comment telling me one good thing about being ill :)

Would you rather Beauty TAG

I love 'would you rather' tags, although I am horrible at making decisions. But who doesn't like to challenge themselves ;). This time I decided to do a beauty edition, 10 'would you rathers' concerning everything beauty related. Get ready, set, GO:

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or nice hair and no make-up?
Well, this one is actually quite easy as I love the messy hair look and wear it every day anyway so I'd choose nice make-up and messy hair. However the person who created this probably didn't mean the nice type of messy hair but still.... the face is more important than hair :D

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Definitely shave my eyebrows. Until they grow back I could just draw them on with an eyebrow pencil ( loads of girls do that anyway because of over plucking their eyebrows). If my eyelashes fell out it would look really weird when they start growing back and I don't even know if fake lashes would stick without the real ones to support them.

3. Would you rather be forced to shop only at MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
Here in the UK we don't have Sephora, but as far as I know they have lots of different brands so I'd only shop at Sephora. As much as I like MAC, I think different brands have different strengths so just relying on one brand would be too risky for me.

4. Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
80's perm all the way. I wish I was born in the 80's, I love how crazy and colourful and just over the top everything was. Literally I don't even need a bad other option (like the ligloss/lipliner look - ugh) to agree on getting an 80's perm ;)

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
Um, probably an obvious foundation line (have probably done it before...), because I absolutely HATE overdone blush. My face gets red really easily, so with overdone blush I'd just look like a walking tomato!

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
MC Hammer pants all the way haha. I think they can actually look pretty cool on girls, if you don't drown in them. (If you didn't know, MC Hammer pants are loose fitting trousers inspired by harem pants) Justin Bieber really needs to stop wearing them tho...

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
Tan lines because it'd probably mean I'm naturally tanned rather than that super fake orange stuff. I don't actually tan so having weird tan lines would be more of an achievement than embarrassment to me ;)
8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair colour?
Oh I've had bad hair colours before e.g. when I was thirteen and thought red would look good on me...
So I'd probably choose a bad hair colour, which is easy to change and I sadly have experience dealing with.

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. How's that beauty :'( I would probably go for twitter because youtube is my TV, but then how would I connect to fellow bloggers... This is what I call a first world problem!

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Makeup brushes because mascara is my holy grail beauty product. And I could use sponges or simply my hands to apply my makeup.

Aaaaand that were all the questions. I really enjoyed answering them, I tag everyone reading this!
Also choose the question you found the most difficult and write your answer in the comments - let's share the struggle ;)
Love you lots, have a beautiful day!
